Thanks to our friends at the American Red Cross, Haynes, many amazing 2WD listeners & clients, and Unilever –the parent company of Lipton Tea - together we have raised nearly $30,000 in Tornado relief!
I’ve witnessed and heard many first hand stories from 2WD listeners about ordinary people doing extraordinary things for each other, not just these past few days but everyday. That probably explains why I’m never surprised at the huge and selfless outpouring of response during this type of situation. However I am always amazed at awesome power we have to make difference for when we reach out to our fellow man

If you’re a parent who’s been blessed with healthy children that’s all the more reason to support F.A.C.T. – Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater. F.A.C.T. is raising awareness of autism spectrum disorders and raising funds for a regional autism resource center this Sunday April 27th at the Virginia Beach Convention Center by attempting to break a WORD’S RECORD for the biggest Jigsaw Puzzle!

Did you know Autism is the most common of the Pervasive Developmental Disorders, affecting an estimated 1 in 150 births? This means as many as 1.5 million Americans are believed to have some form of autism. And this number is on the rise, growing at 10-17 percent per year. Autism knows no racial, ethnic, or social boundaries; family income levels; lifestyle choices; or educational levels, and can affect any family and any child.

I'm Melting!!
Okay – the rain wasn’t that bad today – but it did come down! If all the April Showers are any indication we should have a surplus of May Flowers on the way.

Happy Birthday Charles!
One of my favorite actors Charles Grodin is celebrating a birthday today. Over the weekend I re-watched “The Great Muppet Caper” Somehow Grodin remains hillarious even without saying anything. Had Charles Grodin not been edited out the clip below - this would be a classic Charles Groden clip. Still it's a classic...

Lawsuit Alert!
George Lucas is suing to prevent the sale of unlicensed Star Wars Storm Trooper helmets. Those in possession of the unlicensed helmets are encouraged to contact Lucas Films. Those with Storm Trooper helmets who are over the age of 35 are also strongly encouraged to move out of their parent’s house!
Carson will take the Credit
Last week I mentioned on the air that a certain gas station chain drew me to the pump when I spotted the low gas prices on their sign – then as I was pumping I noticed the words “price per gallon with carwash” – and realized I was paying 10 cent more per gallon. I was kinda cheesed!
Well kudos to BP for not only changing their signs to reflect their unleaded prices both with and without a carwash – but as of this morning it looks like they had the lowest price in town. There’s a strong possibility I deserve NONE of the credit for BP’s change of marketing heart – but I’ll never admit it!

2WD’s “Men of Menopause” on the Road!

Click picture to see the Video
2WD’s ace photojournalist STEFAN rolled video as we paid Laurie Clinton a visit today at Rosemont Forest Elementary in Virginia Beach! When we showed up the rest of the front office was in – but Laurie - the school's nurse was still at lunch. Her faithful co-workers offered to take all those tickets to see Menopause the Musical and the $50 dollar gift certificate for free lunch at Olive Garden off our hands on Laurie’s behalf. Luckily – Laurie got back in the nick of time before the mob got unruly and secured her 2WD freebees!
Mark, Barry, and Ken Carson – the men of 2WD (Deliliah is invited to join us as well) will be out every day this week delivering free tickets to see Menopause the Musical and free lunch – so be sure to sign up as a frequent listener by clicking the LISTENER CLUB link above! We will post Laurie's Video here shortly!
Speaking of great shows – I got a chance to go to the historic Wells Theatre in downtown Norfolk yesterday to see Virginia Stage Company’s performance of LOST HIGHWAY: THE HANK WILLIAMS STORY. It was great! The show features wall to wall foot stompin’, barn-burnin’ performances

IS KATIE LEAVING "CBS EVENING NEWS" ?
The"Wall Street Journal" reports KATIE COURIC'S days at CBS may numbered. According to the report, she's "likely" to leave the gig before her five-year contract is up in 2011 but could leave as early as January after the presidential inauguration. CBS has found its Evening News ratings a bit disappointing since Katie took over the anchor job in 2006. Supposedly, CBS is under pressure to improve those ratings and/or cut costs. (Katie Couric is pulling down about $15 million a year under her current deal.)
Local School Teacher Running Escort Service?
Actually – more like 20 different escort services. A 33 year old High School Teacher resigned after the allegations came out. And can you believe they had this woman teaching Social Studies? Shocking! And all this time she could have been teaching a business class.

I’m a little ashamed to say it – but it was only recently that I finally figured out exactly how to use the “instant feedback” box on the 2wd.com main page. The thing is I did get every instant feedback message – I just got them four weeks later! So now I pledge to use my newfound communicating power for good – and bring some integrity back to the word “instant.”STRAIT BEAT OUT R.E.M. FOR THE
